The changing times

On this Labour Day holiday I find myself having to do a lot of work!!
The photo was taken just after I had interred some ashes of a parishioner who died a couple of years ago.
Some of his many grandchildren standing in front of a leadlight in St John's Coromandel Valley one of 6 windows in that church by local artist Sally Sandiford.
The family had a wedding on Saturday of one of the older grandchildren and so they have been gathering together to celebrate how life changes and moves on.
The leadlight is a memorial to their grandmother who died a decade ago....it seems like yesterday, she had been for many years a sacristan at the other church in the parish, she loved cooking and flowers, and being a mother and grandmother. The window is of the Holy Family and a young girl either giving a rose to Mary or being given one. So it's picking up a lot of interesting and complex themes about life, death, family, church and community; art and history. It seems like work! But it is of course a joy also!
